Saharan Futures Conference

Thursday, April 11 and  Friday, April 12, join us for the conference Saharan Futures, a convening focused on the current politics and economics of trans-Saharan trade that will illuminate contemporary realities of migration, security, regional and international economic exchange, ideational flows, and identity across the Sahara. Our keynote speaker, Ann McDougall, will be one of several experts on the movement of people, ideas, and resources within and across borders. The conference will illuminate how historical patterns of sub-Saharan, North African, and global exchange continue to shape the present and future, both in the critical challenges and opportunities they present for human development and well-being. RSVP here by April 9 for the events.

On Friday April 12 at 4pm, in Chicago, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs will host the panel Security in the Sahel: Prospects for Sustainable Peace. Register here for the event.

These events are presented in coordination with the exhibition
